Switching from Let’s Encrypt to Actalis

Hello everyone,

To try another certificate authority, I replaced some of my Let’s Encrypt TLS certificates with free certificates issued by Actalis.

The issuance and deployment process went smoothly. The certificates are correctly recognized by the browsers and the various clients used during my tests.

Actalis is also interesting from a digital sovereignty perspective. The certificate authority operates under European law, whereas Let’s Encrypt is operated from the United States and is subject to US law. This choice may therefore matter to organizations that pay close attention to the jurisdiction governing their suppliers.

With this free offering, Actalis is clearly positioning itself as a kind of “European Let’s Encrypt”, based on European infrastructure, governance, and a European legal framework.

Since the service is free, functional, and European, it deserves a short article and some additional testing.
